NDO: secrets of a successful offshore tax disclosure!

Date - 16 September 2009

secrets of a successful offshore tax disclosure

New Disclosure Opportunity now open

HMRC has now published full details of the New Disclosure Opportunity (NDO) and the disclosure scheme has gone live from 1 September. This is the latest, and reportedly final, opportunity for those with undeclared offshore assets and related tax liabilities to come clean and avoid big penalties and rigorous investigation.

NDO forms and guidance

The material now available includes the forms themselves along with detailed guidance and FAQs. Anyone familiar with the 2007 Offshore Disclosure Facility (ODF) will find the forms very similar and will welcome the more detailed guidance. New FAQs have just been added to explain the interaction with the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility.

NDO workshops: secrets of a successful disclosure

TaxTroubleshooter.co.uk current personnel dealt with dozens of successful disclosures under the ODF and know how to compile a disclosure which will satisfy HMRC, even if challenged, while legitimately saving money where possible. Did you know, for example, that under the ODF the Revenue scooped an extra few million pounds in interest and tax which could easily have been saved? David is leading two October workshops on NDO disclosures, in Belfast (Fri 16th) and Derry (Thurs 22nd).

Preparing for a 50% tax rate – a reminder

Fact: the highest earners will be paying more to the Chancellor in 2010/11 on their top slice of income than they keep for themselves. Fact: for the self-employed, many profits being realised now will be hit at the new top rate. There are complex - and costly - proposals to reduce tax liabilities. However, simple forward planning or restructuring (including incorporation) can also significantly reduce future tax bills. Contact David on 02890737995 or by e-mail if you would like to know more.
