Partners

Northern Ireland Science Park wishes to recognize and thank all of its sponsors and partners, without whom nothing could have been achieved.

NISP has been funded principally by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment ("DETI"). DETI is responsible for the development of Northern Ireland policies on economic development and innovation and uses, as one of its main instruments, the Northern Ireland Regional Innovation Strategy, which NISP is pleased to support.

NISP received substantial funding for its Innovation Centre from the International Fund for Ireland, a group established to administer grant funding to NI to help re-establish a healthy society following the historic “Good Friday Agreement”.

As a “not-for-profit” company, NISP has members. Most important among these are the two Universities of Northern Ireland, Queen's University Belfast ("QUB") and the University of Ulster ("UU"), including UUSRP.

QUB and UU are broadly based universities. Together they have a full range of the fundamental pure and applied sciences and are strong both in teaching and research. While they aim to be international in standards and outlook, they are also devoted to being economic assets to NI through their support for local industry and for their ability to turn science into business. NISP is delighted to be their partner in this endeavour.

Invest Northern Ireland ("INI") is the principal executive agency of DETI and aims to grow the Northern Ireland economy by helping new and existing businesses to compete internationally, and by attracting new investment to Northern Ireland. INI supports NISP in some of its entrepreneurship activities and NISP is happy to support INI as it seeks foreign direct investment.

Northern Ireland is the only part of the United Kingdom with a land border with another EU country, which has embraced the euro. For that and other reasons InterTradeIreland was established. InterTradeIreland helps strengthen individual businesses by building effective business relationships, and promotes the value of growth sectors to make the island more competitive in a global economy. InterTradeIreland supports the halo initiative as part of its Equity Network.

All science parks aim for global outreach but are completely dependent on parochial strong support. It is no different for NISP. NISP success depends on its support, moral and fiscal, from Belfast City Council.

NISP projects are often supported by the private sector, including Bank of Ireland, and various law firms as well as others from time to time.
